EWGA Handicap Information

This is a bunch of extra test to see if I can make this go out and wrap to see if I can get this to display properly on the screen because it is driving me crazy.
What is a Handicap Index?
The USGA Handicap System is the method that best allows golfers of all abilities to compete on an equal basis on any given course. Your handicap index is figured according to a mathematical formula and is based on your score, as well as the length and difficulty of the course you play. Your handicap index reflects your playing potential because it is based on the best scores posted over a given number of rounds, ideally the best 10 scores of your last 20 rounds. However, you only need 5 scores to establish a handicap index.
How do I get a Handicap Index?
EWGA provides a handicap service as a part of your membership. This is included with the EWGA Golf Life Management System that is offered to every member affiliated with an EWGA Chapter. In order to use this service you must first activate your Golf Life Management account. You then must enter a minimum of 5 scores to establish your handicap.
How do I activate my Golf Life Management account?
Go to http://www.ewga.com
Click 'Member Login' at the top of the screen
Click 'Login'
Enter your EWGA member number and password then press ENTER
Click 'Golf Life Management' in left menu

Is a Handicap Required?
As a member becomes more experienced in playing the game of golf, the EWGA encourages all members to obtain an official Handicap. All EWGA members affiliated with a Chapter have the opportunity to obtain an official handicap through the EWGA Golf Life Management System. Access to this system is included in Regular membership dues
While you are not required to maintain a handicap index, handicaps will be required to participate in some chapter events. A handicap will also allow you to play in outside tournaments. Many clubs and private tournaments require them.

How to Establish or Renew Your Handicap
You MUST be a member of EWGA in order to obtain a handicap through the Association.
Save your 18-hole scorecards. (You may also submit two cards from 9-hole play to be combined into an 18 hole card.)
Whether you are registering for a handicap for the first time, or renewing your handicap for another year, you will shortly receive a sticker indicating your GHIN (Golf Handicap & Information Network) number. If you are renewing your handicap, your GHIN number will be the same as last year.
When you receive your official GHIN number, you can begin to post scores yourself on the course computer where you play. This is the best way to ensure that your scores are posted accurately and in a timely fashion.
You may begin to post scores as of March 25, 2008. Most northern golf associations have a season running from April through October. Scores made outside of that season are not posted. However, if you are vacationing or wintering in the South, where the season is year-round, you must keep track of your scores, and post them when your home course reopens.
After you have posted five 18-hole scores, you will receive an official USGA Handicap Index.
Members who register for their handicap with the EWGA will receive instructions on adjusting scores with Equitable Stroke Control as well as instructions for entering scores into a GHIN computer terminal. EWGA members who do not have access to a GHIN computer terminal may submit scorecards to their league coordinator for posting.
If you have a GHIN number through another club but would like to receive your handicap through the EWGA, be certain to include your GHIN and Club number on your Handicap Registration Form.
If you have any questions regarding the registration procedure or about handicaps in general, please contact Marianne Charest.
Play well and have fun!
